Park City has a saying: “Come for the winter, stay for the summer.” Many a ski-bum has turned into a year-round frequenter after being enchanted by a Park City summer. Along with stunning mountain views, the summer is packed with unique and exciting events that make this ski town one of the best vacation destinations any time of year. Here are a few of Park City attractions to get you started:
Savor the Summit
Savor the Summit is Park City’s biggest outdoor dinner party. It takes place on June 17, 2017, right down the middle of Historic Main Street on one four-block-long table. Guests will enjoy live music, drinks, appetizers, and the culinary feats of the town’s best restaurants. Reservations must be made directly with each participating restaurant to reserve a spot at one of the best Park City eating activities.
Park City Food and Wine Classic
Another great culinary event is the Park City Food and Wine Classic hosted July 6-9, 2017. This three-day festival features not only the wonderful food offerings in the Park City area, but the creations of master winemakers from top Utah destinations and wineries around the world. Experience unique Park City events with participating partners, like Wine on the Mountain hosted at Montage Deer Valley or the Guns and Rosés event, which features a guided trap shooting tour followed by a Rosé tasting at Victory Ranch (July 6-9, 2017).
4th of July Celebration
Park City goes big when it comes to the annual Independence Day celebration. The day starts off with a 5K fun run, then of course a parade down Historic Main Street and Park Avenue. The party then migrates to City Park where the town presents live music all day, concessions and a beer garden, and kids’ activities. The evening wraps up with a grand firework display. Once you arrive for the celebration in the morning, most Park City activities are walkable or accessed by the city’s free public transit system.
Summit County Fair
True to the western heritage of the area, the Summit County Fair, hosted August 5-12, 2017, is an event not to be missed. It truly is a traditional small town fair complete with cowboys and bucking broncos, carnival food and more. The fair features two nights of Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) rodeo events, a one-night demolition derby, live music daily, a beauty pageant, a farmer’s market, and a pie baking contest. And that doesn’t even cover everything!
Kimball Arts Festival
Every August, the local Kimball Arts Center presents its annual fundraiser in the form of a three-day arts festival. August 4-6, 2017 will welcome the 48th installment of this local staple. Nearly every medium you can think of is represented from music to sculpture, photography to watercolor, and even jewelry from local and national artists. This is a great event to mingle with artists and take home a souvenir in the form of one of these wonderful works.
