The newest luxury vacation rental in Florida, The Pointe, hosted its first wedding this past April. Mirroring the exquisite property, every detail of the developer’s special day emitted the aura of elegance, beauty and enchantment. Bruce Pittman, an award-winning event designer and planner from Nashville, worked with some of South Walton’s finest vendors to execute the bride and groom’s dream day.
Kristen Cagadas, wedding sales manager with ResortQuest by Wyndham Vacation Rentals, held a Q&A session with Bruce to gather more behind-the-scenes details on the first Florida beach wedding at The Pointe:
Can you share more about your company, and how you got to where you are today?
Of course! Bruce Pittman Inc. is a boutique agency specializing in the design and planning of weddings and social events. Ninety-nine percent of the events we plan and execute are weddings, but we have had the honor of serving clients in other ways, such as designing Nashville's 25th Anniversary Ballet Ball, 2015 Symphony Ball and 2015 Authors in the Round Gala. Our work has been featured in vignettes in publications like nFocus Magazine, Nashville Lifestyles Magazine, The Pink Bride Magazine, Enchanted Brides Magazine, Style Unveiled, The Art of Celebration - Southern Style and The New York Social Diary. Most recently, we were named one of The Nashville Scene's Best of Nashville Wedding/Event Planner honorees for the second year in a row, and we were selected as one of Nashville's Best Wedding Planners by Borrowed & Blue.
How would you describe the style of Emily and Mark’s wedding?
The wedding embodied a fresh take on a classic-traditional wedding style. Classic-traditional weddings are more reliant on colors to set the theme rather than alternative details, and they lean heavier on floral aspects over other details to complete the design plan. The use of white, neutral and light blush/pink colors teamed with crystal accents underneath a clear top tent with proper lighting brought this design to life, and really set the backdrop for the perfect spring wedding.
What were some of the jaw-dropping details you incorporated for their big day?
Events by Nouveau 30A created the perfect floral design that was simply stunning. In addition, the lush, two-toned mint and parchment-colored drape effects added elegance and softness. They were teamed with crystal chandeliers and a matching custom-made crystal chandelier prism head table, all from QuestDrape Nashville. It was a jaw-dropping combination.
Which design detail was your favorite?
The head table was my favorite design combination; it touched each sense. The design included decadent textured florals studded with taper candles, which ran the length of the 16' crystal chandelier prism table with lush floral overhangs accented with bright white orchids. Above was a 12' floating floral piece that completed the head table design, truly taking it from wedding bliss to wedding couture.
From your perspective as the wedding planner, what made The Pointe stand out?
The Pointe was the perfect setting with its "open air" feel and fresh, bright white and light colors – the ideal complement to each other. The property was also an ideal location for the wedding logistically. The Green created a lovely cocktail, dinner and dance area for guests. The Rooftop was picture-perfect for other wedding events like the Welcome Dinner and Post-Wedding Brunch. One of my favorite areas of the property is Emily's Chapel: a secluded area of The Pointe nestled between trees and natural surroundings, ideal for a wedding ceremony or intimate gathering.
What was your favorite spot?
The Rooftop and Green spaces were just made for weddings and events. I have not worked with another property that offered an outdoor space designed this well to accommodate event needs such as tenting specifications, state–of-the-art sound and lighting capabilities, and staging areas for catering as well as additional vendors like the band. I also simply love the fact that The Pointe is the ideal size to house guests for the homestead wedding or event. Once your guests have checked-in, it truly feels as if The Pointe is an extension of your home with family and friends filling the property’s occupancy.
What was your favorite moment of Emily and Mark’s wedding?
Above and beyond the gorgeous design, my favorite part of every wedding is watching the bride and groom see each other for the very first time on their wedding day. It simply doesn’t get better than getting to be a part of a ceremony of marriage and listen to their family and friends’ intimate toasts. Each wedding is vastly different in style but similar in its true meaning.
Is there anything else that you would like to share about your experience?
The importance of a strong team is vital in the success of any wedding. The entire staff at The Pointe was more than accommodating during the planning and execution of this wedding. They helped make the experience exceptional for the vendors and guests alike.
