Best Tennis Spots

Palm Springs, California

With warm, desert sunshine year-round, Palm Springs offers players a number of convenient public facilities. This city’s DeMuth Park has four lighted courts, while Palm Springs High School offers eight (non-lighted) courts and a program to “match up” tennis buddies of all levels. Located downtown is Ruth Hardy Park, with eight courts as well as other activities, such as sand volleyball and basketball courts, and amenities like picnic tables, water fountains and restrooms.

Whistler, British Columbia, Canada

Tennis fans visiting Canada’s picturesque town of Whistler are always thrilled to learn that the area is home to dozens of public courts. So wherever you choose to practice your backhand, there is a net close by. Whistler Village’s Whistler Racquet Club offers rental options for both indoor and outdoor courts, as well as lessons and camps. The area’s newest recreational area is Bayly Park, offering tennis and a number other activities. Several area parks also have courts, including: Brio Park, Millar’s Pond and White Gold park.

Among the vast selection of courts is the city’s Jay Blanchard Park, which features two courts surrounded by trees and tropical foliage, with nearby activities for family members who are too young to play. Located near downtown is the Orlando Tennis Center with several clay courts, as well as clinics and lessons for all ages.

Charleston’s Islands, South Carolina

There are plenty of tennis courts throughout Charleston’s Islands, all open to the public and situated within a few miles of one another. Tennis fans staying on Kiawah and Seabrook Islands often head to Johns Island Park, which is a short drive away. There, the Alan Fleming Tennis Complex features six lighted hard courts. Nearby, Daniel Island’s Freedom Park tennis courts are located close to both Isle of Palms and Sullivan’s Island. Located behind the high school, Freedom Park offers two lighted hard courts, which are open for day and evening matches.

Sea Colony - Delaware

The Delaware beaches offer plenty of idyllic spots for playing tennis. Sea Colony, which consistently ranks among the best tennis resorts in the nation, is a popular choice.
