Couples that decide to get married are faced with a multitude of decisions when planning for the wedding. Elope or big wedding? Close to home or a destination affair? On the beach or overlooking a mountain vista?
Luckily for me and my groom-to-be, these decisions were simple. We live in Park City, Utah — not only one of the premier ski destinations in the country, but a well-known place for a destination wedding. For us, it was a hometown affair, and for the majority of our guests, it was a destination wedding. Fortunately, we were able to choose the best of both worlds.
Park City has four stunning and distinct seasons. It’s one of those special places where any time of the year is a good time. We decided on a mid-September wedding, when the leaves would be popping with vivid golds and crimsons. We knew our guests would enjoy all this rustic and elegant mountain town has to offer during the time of year before the snow falls, known to many as the “off season.” There are so many activities to enjoy, including hiking, biking, shopping, dining, outdoor festivals and markets and, of course, the downhill alpine slides.
Because Park City and Deer Valley are resort areas, accommodations are plentiful. We recommended Wyndham Vacation Rentals to our family and friends, so that they could enjoy a comfortable stay and get to spend quality time with one another in a beautiful property. People flew and drove in from all corners of the country. With multiple events planned over a three-day period, our wedding weekend became more of a vacation for our guests.
My family stayed at the picturesque Mont Cervin Plaza in Deer Valley. With elegant vaulted ceilings, a floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace, elk antler chandeliers and rustic-chic furniture and decor, they truly felt at home all weekend and were thrilled to spend quality time together. With a large three-bedroom unit, everyone had plenty of space but still got to enjoy meals with one another, play games and have plenty of time to catch up and connect.
Most Park City and Deer Valley Wyndham Vacation Rentals accommodations come outfitted with their own hot tubs, which is a luxurious addition to any mountain getaway.
Our guests enjoyed Park City’s Autumn Aloft hot air balloon festival, hiking through aspen-lined trails, mountain biking up to incredible vistas and views of the town below, as well as shopping and dining on Main Street. Each Sunday from early June to mid-September, vendors line Main Street with all kinds of crafts, jewelry, food and local wares, along with live music and delicious food offerings from Park Silly Market. It’s a must-do if you visit Park City during the summer and early fall months.
No matter the season, Utah has so much to offer and is the ideal spot for a mountain wedding.
