Calling all winter lovers! Our concierge at Wyndham Vacation Rentals Breckenridge gave us the “best of” to dos for a wintery-fun time. Our itinerary will help you spend a long weekend in Breckenridge, Colorado, hitting the slopes and exploring this historic town.
Here are our top picks for a long-weekend away:
When you arrive to Breckenridge sometime mid-afternoon, try to get yourself over to pick up some equipment rentals. Get your ski rentals out of the way so you can enjoy the rest of your evening. You and the family will also be prepared to hit the slopes first thing in the morning!
Check in starts at 4 p.m. so drop your bags off, settle in and explore your Breckenridge vacation rental. If you plan on cooking any meals during your stay, start planning your shopping list so you can get in and out of the store quickly.
Once your bellies start to growl, go get a taste of the local flavor at the Breckenridge Brewery. We suggested ordering the dry aged NY strip bone-in steak, roasted purple fingerlings, smoked porcini-shallot demi-glaze with seasonal veggies. If you’re in the mood for something different, try out the elk meatloaf! Pair it with a Breckenridge Brewery beer, which is brewed on-site, to complete your meal.
After you’ve had your fill, explore the main street shops. Breckenridge’s historic main street is lined with a variety of boutiques, restaurants and gift shops.
Get up early, and grab a quick breakfast burrito and latte at the Coffee Depot to fuel up for the day!
You don’t want to be late for your all-day ski lessons. Be sure to arrive at the base of the ski area by 9 a.m. to meet your instructor before heading out on the mountain for a full day of instruction and fun!
Follow up your day on the mountain with a little relaxation and an après happy hour at Taddeo’s Italian Restaurant. Feast on an eggplant tower made up of fritti eggplant, sautéed wild mushroom, roasted peppers, mozzarella cheese and marinara sauce, or spicy fried raviolis with shaved parmesan and marinara while enjoying a beverage of your choice.
Nothing ends a long day on the mountain like a nice soak in the hot tub before calling it quits for the night.
Head out to the Columbine Café for a wonderful sit down breakfast. You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu, but the veggie benedict may be one of our favorites!
Now that you’re fed and feeling charged for the day, you have a few options to try something new and exciting! A snowmobiling excursion is a great way to explore the Breckenridge wilderness and take in the expansive views of the surrounding mountain ranges.
Motorized vehicles not your thing? No trip to Breckenridge is complete without a run with some sled dogs. After getting oriented with your team of Siberian huskies, you will by mushing your way through the forest and taking in the breathtaking scenery and creating memories with your family!
For something more low key, go hill-sledding at Carter Park. No matter how old you are, slide down the hill over and over again until you build up an appetite for an amazing dinner at Relish.
The owner and chef of Relish have worked together to create a menu of Colorado-inspired cuisine. Buffalo, elk and Cherrywood bacon meatloaf sliders are a great starter followed by fennel pollen seared ruby red trout for dinner. The meal wouldn’t be complete without one of the many amazing desserts like the Pina Colorado crème brulee or the Baked Alaska!
Now that you have a ski lesson under your belt, head out with your friends and family to enjoy your favorite ski runs at Breckenridge Ski Resort. With five peaks to choose from, you should be able to keep the whole family satisfies on the mountain!
The time has come to hang up those boots and return all of your rentals to the ski shop before heading downtown for dinner at Giampietros, where you have your choice of just about any Italian food. Some of our favorites are the Sicilian deep dish pizza, chicken parmesan and a calzone the size of your head!
See you next time! We hope you had a great trip to Breckenridge, Colorado and hope to see you again soon!
