Whistler, British Columbia is the ultimate vacation destination for families year-round. From a big playground in the village to plenty of family-friendly restaurants and age-appropriate activities, the little ones won’t be disappointed in a trip to Whistler – and neither will the adults.
Sarah Pittard, of the blog Solo Mom Takes Flight, shares her vacation guide for Whistler with kids. Here is some of her Whistler vacation ideas and advice:
Enjoy the ride in. The journey from Vancouver on the Sea to Sky Highway is in Sarah’s words, “stunning. Every twist and turn of the road revealed a stunning view.”
Navigate Whistler with ease. Once you arrive, getting around is easy. The village is large but completely walkable, and there are numerous gondolas available to shuttle you up and down the mountain.
Visit the Family Adventure Zone. A visit to Whistler with kids isn’t complete until you stop here. Highlights include the West Coaster mountain slide, bungee trampoline, and ropes course.
Hike Blackcomb Mountain. The newest Blackcomb trail lets you head up or down a lower section of the mountain, unlike the trails at the top of the mountain. Sarah recommends the trek for kids older than seven and points out the high likelihood of a bear sighting.
Play in the summer snow. Let your kids jump around in the summer snow – a crazy concept for little ones!
