When summer hits in the mountains, there’s no better time for hiking, rafting, biking and soaking up the great outdoors. Fresh mountain air, ample sunshine and gorgeous scenery is the everyday. To celebrate the season, Colorado’s favorite towns host fun events ranging from art activations and food festivals to athletic competitions and more. Here are some of our favorite summer festivals in Colorado that’ll have you headed to the Rockies:
Festivals in Aspen & Snowmass
These two neighboring mountain towns host a ton of events, ranging from the world-renowned Aspen Ideas Festival to the down and dirty Snowmass Tough Mudder. Looking to rock out all summer long? The Snowmass Free Concert Series hosts new artists every Thursday during the summer. If you want to expand your summer music line-up, you can also check out The Belly Up, a low-key, energy packed venue with big name artists.
For the foodies, luckily there is plenty of mouth-watering cuisine around Aspen and Snowmass. Kick off the summer with a Colorado beer festival — the Snowmass Rendezvous Craft Beer Festival — and sample incredible beer from over 30 different Colorado breweries. Next, make an appearance at the Aspen Food and Wine Classic. This famed wine festival in Colorado packs the best chefs, gourmet food, and exclusive wine into one incredible weekend.
For the adrenaline seekers, get your blood pumping with events like The Audi Power of Four Mountain Bike Race, Snowmass’ Big Mountain Enduro Race, The Vintage Car Race, or the brute bashing Aspen Ruggerfest. Watch or participate with some of the best athletes around. In between all the fun, spend a little “me time” hiking and exploring The Roaring Fork Valley.

Summer in Steamboat Springs means hours of fun and entertainment stretching into those long summer nights. Guests and locals alike enjoy manicured greens at picturesque golf courses, soaking in the scenery at Strawberry Park Hot Springs, hiking or biking the many miles of trails in and around Steamboat or tubing down the Yampa River.
